Dr Anastasios Papadopoulos

Dr. Anastasios Papadopoulos is Physicist-Meteorologist and Associate Researcher at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (in the Institute of Inland Waters). He received a B.Sc degree in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and a M. Sc and Ph.D in Meteorology from the National University of Athens. His research interests and experience include: regional-mesoscale numerical weather prediction; operational meteorology and oceanography (design, development, evaluation); water and energy cycle; data assimilation techniques; air-land-sea interaction and processes; extreme weather events and severe storms (theory and modeling); soil erosion and mechanisms of production, transport and deposition of dust substance; atmospheric stability and dispersion air pollution. He has participated (as coordinator or researcher) in more than 45 European, U.S and national funded research projects. He is the coordinator of the Marie Curie Excellence Grant at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (PreWEC). He is author or co-author of more than 30 publications in peer reviewed journals, 80 peer-reviewed publications in international and national conferences and more than 100 other publications in the fields of meteorology, mesoscale modelling, study of severe weather events and air pollution.
