Dr. Nikolaos Skoulikidis (PhD, m) is geologist and received his PhD from the University of Hamburg on biogeochemistry of major Greek rivers. He is currently research director in the Institute of Inland Waters, Hellenic Centre for Marine Research. He has 25 years experience on environmental projects, concerning rivers, lakes, wetlands, etc. and 4 years experience on technology transfer for environmental protection, environmental impact assessment and water management & protection. He has coordinated, or has been involved in over 50 international and national projects and has over 30 publications in peer reviewed journals. His main research interests concern the environmental state of water bodies (analysis of pressures, assessment of impacts), ecological quality assessment of rivers and streams, or are related to river basin and ecosystem management.
