Dr Matteo Zampieri

Dr. Matteo Zampieri is currently a Marie Curie Experienced Researcher in the Institute of Inland Waters, of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) Greece. He has been research assistant at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (ISAC-CNR, Italy, 2007-2009). In this period he developed collaborations with the University of Lodz (Poland) under a Marie Curie TOK-DEV fellowship and with the Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique of the Institut Pierre Simon Laplace (LMD-IPSL, France) under an European Science Foundation Exchange Grant. Previously he holded a PostDoc position at the Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique of the Ecole normale supérieure (LMD-ENS, France, 2006-2007). He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Ferrara (Italy, 2006) while being a research assistant at ISAC-CNR (2002-2006). He obtained a degree ("Laurea") in Physics at the University of Padova (Italy, 2001). His research interests include atmospheric modeling, in particular turbulence and surface fluxes. He investigated a number of heavy precipitation events in the Mediterranean Region, organized deep convection events in Tropical Regions, and droughts events in Central Europe. More recently he addressed regional climate modeling, potential vegetation modeling, and climate-vegetation interactions in the Mediterranean Region.
